A classic Detective Story (in all the right ways), |
From the beginning, where a nebbish is called by the police to add his expertise to a grisly murder scene, to the end, where betrayals abound and violence mounts, Japantown is everything you'd want in a detective novel.
I do find it odd that Barry Eisler seems to hang out in a different Tokyo than Barry Lancet. There's hardly a single-malt whiskey to be found in this book. Did Eisler drink them ALL?
Superb debut novel by someone who seems to write far too well for this to be his first. A definite recommendation.
